Cast Iron Stable Window Mirror – 100 × 80 cm

This handmade cast iron stable window mirror is crafted from an original stable window from an old farmhouse. The window has been completely converted by hand in my workshop in Utrecht: old paint and putty removed, mirror glass cut to size and installed, and finished with a matte metal lacquer so that the original patina of the cast iron remains intact. The result is a mirror you won't find anywhere else.

The story of this stable window:

Cast iron stable windows were made to last for decades — heavy, sturdy, full of character. This particular piece spent its time in a stable, and that is reflected in the material: a rich patina, authentic casting marks, and the slight imperfections that come with handcrafted items. That's precisely what makes it special. You're not buying a mirror from a factory, but a piece of history with a second life.

With its size of 100 × 80 cm, this is a medium-sized mirror that fits well in many places:

- Hallway or corridor – instantly adds depth and light
- Living room – a bold statement piece next to or above a sofa

I do every part of this process by hand. I cut the mirror glass myself to size in my workshop in Utrecht. No machine, no factory — just craftsmanship and attention to every detail. That's why this piece is truly unique: even if I were to find an identical stable window tomorrow, the mirror would look different.
